HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah was honoured with the Sara Huntington Award by President Michel Mawad of the Lebanese American University at the Annual New York City Legacy Scholarship Gala on September 15, 2023.
The award is named after Sarah Huntington Smith, the founder of the Beirut Female School in 1834 to which the LAU traces its roots, who is the symbol of the missionaries who endured war, epidemics, famine, and isolation in a foreign land to educate Arab girls and women.
This gala dinner is a cornerstone of the Lebanese American University’s fundraising efforts, attracting supporters from North America and around the world to contribute to the provision of high-quality American education in Lebanon.
